Approvals
“Ask me first” rules are for topics that aren't yes-or-no. Instead of guessing, YouGoodAI pauses the moment and hands the judgment call to you, wherever you are.
The round trip
- Your kid asks something an ask-first rule covers. The request pauses before it reaches the AI.
- They see an honest waiting bubble: “waiting for your guardian.” No pretending the AI is just slow.
- You get an email with which kid, which rule, and a short preview of the request (up to 200 characters).
- You tap Approve or Decline, optionally with a comment. Declines show your comment in their chat as part of the notice.
- On approve, their conversation continues within seconds, right where it paused.
Why you see a preview at all
Everywhere else in YouGoodAI, you see topics and events, never message content; that's the privacy design. The approval preview is the one deliberate exception, because you can't make a judgment call on something you can't read. It's limited to the single request being decided, and your kid knows the rule is an ask-first rule, so nothing is shown to you behind their back.
Timeouts
If you don't respond in time (you're driving, it's midnight), the request times out and your kid sees an honest timeout notice rather than an endless spinner. They can re-send the request later, which starts a fresh approval. Each ask-first rule's timeout behavior is configurable on the Policies page.
Where decisions live
The Approvals page in your dashboard shows anything pending plus your decision history, and each decision also appears in the activity feed linked to its outcome: approved, declined, or timed out.
